Berlin 2: Bode Museum

On our second day Katie and I hit the museums.

First up was the Bode Museum, which is the building in the center with the dome.  You can also see the TV tower behind, in Alexanderplatz, which appears in many of my photos because you can see it from everywhere.  Meh.  Modern architecture is not my thing.

Standing under a Byzantine altar mosaic from a church in Ravenna, and reconstructed here.

Madonna and Child by Donatello, one of his earliest works.

A nymph by Antonio Canova.  Love him.

Loved the detail of this Elizabethian-style collar.

This was maybe my favorite thing I saw on the trip.  It was the most detailed and tiny thing I've ever seen (my hand is there to give you a sense of scale).

So much detail!

They must have carved with the tiniest chisels!
