Two Museums

We finally (!) received our student museum cards from the Fulbright on Friday, so Katie and I decided to hit up the Palazzo Altemps that afternoon (these cards get us into many museums for free). The next day we visited the Villa Farnesina.

The courtyard at Palazzo Altemps

The Ludovisi Battle Sarcophagus, 3rd century AD

A-mah-zing

The Suicidal Gaul, 2nd century AD

Obviously we decided to reenact the drama

Beautifully preserved frescoes in an outdoor hall

We popped inside S'Agostino after the palazzo.

St Thomas of Villanova by Melichiore Caffa, 1663. It is sooooo baroque, in the way that the figures are placed outside of the niche.

The next morning, at the Villa Farnesina.

No pictures allowed inside unfortunately :(
