Egypt, day 2: Morning in Luxor

Our sleeper train arrived in Luxor at about 5am. We made our way to our hostel, and were greeted by the friendliest people. We relaxed on the rooftop terrace for a while and watched the sunrise before making our way to the Temple of Amun-Ra at Karnak.  On this trip we were up at all sorts of crazy hours, and I'm actually glad our train arrived so early because otherwise I never would have been awake for such a beautiful sunrise.

Luxor is on the east bank of the Nile, where the sun rises. The west bank, where the sun sets, is where all of the ancient tombs are, and which you can see the mountains of in the distance.

The hostel was perfect, and the staff so friendly. The rooftop terrace was such a pleasure for relaxing after a long day of sight-seeing, and they even served food, so we had our nightly koshary there. The showers and beds left a lot to be desired, but at 2€ a night (yes, that's "two"), we couldn't complain.
